Allan Schiffman will be attending the CASOS Summer Institute at CMU the last week of June, getting a quick education in computational social network analysis. The Center for Computational Analysis of Social and Organizational Systems is directed by CMU Professor Kathleen Carley and has produced systems such as Automap and Biowar. Dr. Carley’s work analysing Enron email traffic was discussed in a recent NYT article.
The following week, still at CMU, Crypto meets CHI at SOUPS 2005 (Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security), being held July 6-8. Allan will be at this follow-up to the successful DIMACS WUPSS conference of a year ago. He reviewed that conference’s papers here.
